Dread Nation

Justina Ireland

Dread Nation During the American Civil War, the divided nation stops fighting when the dead rise again on the battlefield of Gettysburg. In this new, more dangerous America, the safety of all depends on the dangerous work of the few. Jane, like other black young men and women, is required to go to combat school to learn how to put down the dead. As her graduation from combat school approaches, Jane is wrapped up in the middle of a conspiracy and instead of returning to her home or going to work as an attendant to a wealthy young lady, she is sent off to a much more dangerous situation where the undead might not be the deadliest threat.
